Job Title: Payroll Analyst
Job Type: 12+ Months
Location : Carlsbad, CA
Duties:
· Performs a wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities for US and Canada, including computing wage and overtime payments; calculating and recording payroll deductions; processing terminations and requests for manual checks; balancing and controlling earns and deduction totals; addressing general ledger entries; reviewing system generated reports such as payroll registers and earnings/deductions summaries; determing and correcting out-of-balance conditions; and processing garnishments and levies.
· Participates in and oversees the preparation and processing of the weekly, bi-weekly and monthly payrolls.
· Processes exception items such as commissions, bonuses, and other payments.
· Coordinates and consolidates payroll data input from various departments and work sites to ensure information is accurate, complete and received in a timely manner.
· Conducts audits to verify accuracy of employee earnings, and analyzes related payroll reports.
· Researches and prepares responses to employee questions.
· Also performs a variety of routine clerical duties such as filing, mail distribution, answering telephones and verifications of employment.
· May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
Skills:
· Possesses effective oral and written communication skills as well as good interpersonal skills.
· Must be able to interface effectively with all levels of company employees.
· Duties will normally follow established procedures, but flexibility, initiative and the ability to think “outside the box” are required.
· Works under general supervision. Accuracy is required in performing all functions for this position.
· Must demonstrate judgment, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers as well as the ability to handle confidential and proprietary information. Initiative and organization skills are extremely valuable to ensure accuracy and data integrity.
· Must possess self-motivation, enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and perform as a team player.
Education:
· Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
· Knowledge in Payroll and Accounting practices acquired through college level courses and/or equivalent work experience.
· Experience with ADP Enterprise payroll, SAP timekeeping and Work Day HR is preferred, but not required
Experience Required:
· Requires minimum of 7 to 10 years of related experience in a multi-state/multi-country payroll environment with a minimum of 5 years in a senior administrator or supervisory roll; accounting/payroll training; knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and database management.
