Job Description |
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer capable of working in a challenging environment to develop and support consumable manufacturing in the life sciences sector.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Support day to day production activities. Troubleshoot and resolve complex processing or equipment issues down to the component level as needed. Perform root cause analysis.
• Improve production yields, lower costs and improve safety by identifying and implementing new equipment/technologies, safety systems and other techniques such as Statistical Process Controls (SPC).
• Scale up existing production activities to meet increased demand. Transfer manufacturing technologies to other sites. Some travel (including international) may be required.
• Write and negotiate specifications with OEMs as new tools and equipment are added.
• Work closely with facilities, finance, and EH&S to plan, implement, and qualify new equipment and to minimize time from delivery to production. Prepare justifications, calculate ROI and present results to Senior Management for review.
• Develop packaging for consumables and work with product managers to define kits.
• Generate manufacturing documentation, presentations, and technical reports.
Work in cross functional teams to resolve problems. Train less experienced engineers and technicians.
Skills:
• Minimum 10 years experience integrating sophisticated automated handling and processing equipment for semiconductors.
• Be knowledgeable with MEMS technology and micro-electronics related processing equipment.
• Experience in working in clean room manufacturing environments and familiarity with clean room protocols. Experience in manufacturing nucleic acid free environments a plus.
• Must have strong mechanical aptitude and analytical skills. Must be able to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematic diagrams for pressure systems, vacuum systems and electronics.
• Experience in developing packaging that requires hermetic seals.
• Possess strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Must be detail oriented and highly organized.
• Experience in statistical software such as JMP including depiction and modeling. Be familiar with creating and implementing DOEs and SPC. Six Sigma training is desirable.
Education: Minimum of BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
